Hampton University Shooting
I attended Hampton and I am saddened but not surprised by this. I know we all believe that things like this won't happen "to us" or "where we are" but it can happen anywhere....even at the best (and most expensive) HBCU in the country. My thoughts and prayers are with all HU students and their families. The fallout, controversy and many, many calls to President Harvey's office are going to be INCREDIBLE. There are too many powerful parents of students at this school for this to just go away. The aftermath is going to be interesting. Let's see how far Hampton has to go in terms of beefed up security to appease the parents.
Hampton U, VA.Tech.,Columbine High School, the Post Office, all of these have one thing in common. One person who maybe mentally sick, tired of being teased, fustrated, economically unstable, or just lost in the loop. The question is
how can I keep myself safe? I can not rely on campus security when the ratio of students to security is greater. Safe is in numbers still and no matter what campus you attend you are going to have someone to go off. No matter what job you have you are going to have someone go off. So instead of complaining see what you can do to help the situation.
