Michael Phelps' winning return to the pool was stopped short by Aaron Peirsol via the 100 metres backstroke final at the Charlotte Ultraswim meet in North Carolina. Peirsol is the world record holder.
"I'm very happy with that, it's a good field, those guys are good and they'll be the ones I'll be going against this summer," Aaron Peirsol told reporters in an interview.
