What is the significance of Cinco De Mayo? This is not the official Mexican independence day but this date is important for them because on May 5, 1862, the comparatively small, outnumbered and out-armed Mexican army defeated the then super power that was France. Cinco de Mayo celebrates the bravery and determination of the Mexican men who fought during that battle.
