The police are accusing Quinn Gray of faking her kidnapping. She also lied about being sexually abused while in captivity, says the police investigating her case. According to what the investigation revealed, Gray has "cooked up" the kidnapping scheme with her lover Jasmin Osmanovic, in order for them to be able to extort $50,000 from her own husband. The evidence that were gathered by investigators make it clear that Gray's story is not really making sense and it came to a point where it is obvious that the kidnapping is fake.

Authorities cite, among other things, testimony from the manager of the hotel where Gray was allegedly being held saying she "didn't seem to be in distress at all," and a 90-minute audiotape they say captured the sounds of Gray and Osmanovic in the throes of passion, and then plotting the details of a fake kidnapping.
