I never liked AP, even before they started making it known that they intend to collect $12 or something from anyone who quotes 5 words from their news articles. So it's business now more than journalism. Anyways, that's not what I would like to talk about now, what I want to talk about right now is another blunder by AP--the AP photo of dying marine Lance Cpl. Joshua Bernard. Why it's a blunder? It's a blunder because it is not good to get a lot of curious audience just because you have an exclusive photo of a person during his last moments of life. And to think that Lance Cpl. Joshua Bernard's father had asked AP not to publish the photo. AP justified their act with a play on words, they say that they want to “conveys the grimness of war and the sacrifice of young men and women fighting it.” Really AP?
