The US Open Tennis 2009 results for day 6 brings some unexpected big upsets. Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Dinara Safina, some of the big names in the US Open Tennis 2009 all exited the game yesterday in what turned out to be the day of the underdogs. Andy Roddick lost to the underdog John Isner in the fifth set tie breaker. Dinara Safina was beaten by Petra Kvitova, and like what happened to Isner, Safina lost the first set(4 – 6) but was able recover during the second set(6 – 2). But in the tie-breaker, Kvitova proved to be better that day by taking the third set (7 – 5).

Maria Sharapova, crumble under the hands of a 17-year-old Melanie Oudin. During the first two sets it looked as if Sharapovo would make it but Oudin proved to be too powerful for her that day.

So here are the other players who are advancing to the fourth round: #4 Novak Djokovic, #8 Nikolay Davydenko, #10 Fernando Verdasco, #12 Robin Soderling, #14 Tommy Robredo and #15 Radek Stepanek.
