Paulie Malignaggi was defeated by Juan Diaz in a decision in 12 rounds Saturday night, August 22, 2009, in Houston. Diaz now hold the once vacant NABO junior welterweight belt. But Paulie Malignaggi thinks that the judges were somewhat influenced by the crowd who cheered Juan Diaz through out. Diaz is from Houston and the hometown crowd cheered him up even if he was bleeding in the 10th round due to a cut in his left eye. Malignaggi could not believe that he lost and he called the decision of the judges as "ridiculous." He wants to have a rematch and he would like it to take place in his home town, New York.
